Lorne Cross, MD's Bio:
Lorne Cross, MD is an Addiction Medicine specialist with Acadia Healthcare in Oregon. He is the Medical Director of Willamette Valley Treatment Center, an Acadia Healthcare Addiction Medicine clinic in Salem, and he also works in other Acadia Healthcare clinics in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Cross specializes in the treatment of opiate addiction, with an emphasis in Medication-Assisted Treatment involving Suboxone and Methadone. He is also the Medical Director of a new Opioid Treatment Program at the Yamhill County Jail. This program focuses on treating opiate addiction, rather than punishing those who suffer from it, which can help to decrease the rate of overdose deaths, prevent relapse and help to lower recidivism in the jail population, which helps in putting inmates on the path to success upon release.
As Lorne Cross, MD views the future of treatment opportunities for opiate addiction, he feels hopeful. He looks at the expansion of treatment into jails and prisons as a much-needed step in tackling the opioid crisis and stopping unnecessary overdose deaths. Treating addiction with a rehabilitative approach is one of the best ways to reach out to those who truly need it most.
